On 15/06/2013 at 17:06Yesterday, our first fundraising campaign came to a very successful close. While it will take a while to get the final tallies, it looks like we will end up over $10,000 and 200+ donors. Fantastic! This was a significant effort on many people's parts and we wish to thank all of you for your contributions, for sharing our information, liking our Facebook page and talking us up to your families, friends and anyone else who would listen! All on behalf of young people everywhere!
This will enable us to lead about 20 more Listening Sessions, which will double the amount we have completed to date. It will also create a new momentum that will lead to further funding and many new possibilities! This is an exciting step for us.
We also want to say welcome to all of our many new contributors and friends, some of whom we have never met! We invite you to stay in touch, to join us here as often as you like and please know that you will be hearing from us on a regular basis as we promised.
We want to thank David Loitz for all of his tireless work! He loves Imagining Learning's vision and purpose and always gives it his all. This was an even bigger effort. We also want to thank the folks at Incited for playing an important role in helping us launch our first campaign. We enjoyed your support and advice.
In the coming days, we will be back with you sharing our thoughts and feelings about the campaign. So many wonderful things happened it is hard to categorize them, but it is safe to say we have crossed a threshold and are entering a new period of greater vitality. If anyone would still like to contribute, they may do so by going to our website.
Thank you again for your generosity, your belief in Imagining Learning's vision and most importantly, for believing in the wisdom of young people.
On 14/06/2013 at 18:33I wanted to personally thank all of you as we reach the final couple hours of our campaign! We all have came a long way... We stop promoting at midnight last night, but it officially ends at 2pm.
It has been amazing month of new connections, generous support and lots of positive energy for the work we are doing and for the simple and profound idea that young people can and should be part of transforming the world and education!
Here are a few of the highlights from the last month.
We started with 35 listen sessions at the beginning of the campaign and now sit really close to 50 listening Sessions.
We had an article published in Good! (Which was shared out 100's of times and retweet by some huge names in education including the ASCD)
We had 3+ communities step up to sponsor listening sessions.
We had 3 podcast/radio interviews recorded and shared out to upward of half a million listeners and a few more scheduled for the coming weeks. http://bit.ly/198EAEk
Over 200 generous people donated to our campaign including all those that donated on our incited page and all the checks and international donations that have streamed in over the course of the month.
We now seat around 10,000+ dollars donated in a month. This will help us to jump start the tours again in the fall. We even might do a few this summer. Excited to celebrate our completion with all our supporters, friends and allies! The real fun starts! 20 listening sessions in the fall!
Big thanks to all my Imagining Learning friends! Big deep hearted thank you to Charles Kouns for sharing this work with me. My life will never be the same!I want to thank each and all of you for generous supporting this work and for helping to create ripples of transformation in education. Much love.
Where ever you are, let's celebrate this amazing journey! More to come! Children everywhere are smiling!
